Accu-Sort AV3800 Camera

Accu-Sort Systems now offers the AccuVision® (AV) 3800 CCD camera-based bar code reader. A more compact replacement for its Model AV3700, the new unit measures just 12" x 10.5" x 6.5" compared with 16" x 13.5" x 8.7". It supports all AV3700 configurations with the same lens/sensor flexibility. The AV3800 is connector-compatible with the AV3700 and features an adapter plate for drop-in optomechanical compatibility.

In addition the AV3800 supports Accu-Sort's coplanar illumination, VisionCube automatic dimensioning, VisionCapture image capture, storage and recall, and VisionKey remote data entry options. The AV3800 will use camera link image data interconnection, which is rapidly becoming the standard for vision-based systems. The new camera also features improved thermal management, eliminating the need for an external fan and reducing maintenance requirements.

The AV3800 provides in excess of 15,000 scans per second, ensuring the highest possible read rate even if bar code labels are dirty or damaged. AccuVision cameras incorporate profiling software, making it possible to read six sides of a parcel using just five cameras. As a result, high-speed CCD tunnels are now an affordable reality for parcel sorting, retail/wholesale distribution, mail order distribution and parcel OCR reading.

The AV3800 can read both linear and two-dimensional symbols omnidirectionally at conveyor speeds up to 600 fpm. The AccuVision decoder communicates via Ethernet or any NT-compatible local area network. LED-based illumination provides an ergonomic and power-saving alternative to standard sodium vapor lamps for lower-speed, scale and bottom-reading applications.

A major benefit of the AV3800 is the ability to retain clear images of no-read parcels, using Accu-Sort's VisionCapture feature. The captured image clearly indicates the condition or absence of a label.

Extensive diagnostics identify external conditions such as carton spacing and position on the belt, changes in lighting, power supply and communication. Diagnostics are accessible locally or through a modem connection.
