DM-3000

bar code readers, barcode scanners, barcodes, picture of bar code, barcode systems, Accu-sort, DM-3000 overhead dimensioning unit, Acumen Accu-Sort does it again with the DM-3000 package dimensioning system.

The DM-3000 is a compact, overhead dimensioning unit which automatically measures the length, width, and height of packages as they move along a conveyor.

The self-contained unit provides simple installation over an existing conveyor. No break is required in the conveyor belt. The unit's overhead location eliminates damage that side and bottom mounted systems encounter. The one-piece design eliminates critical alignment of multiple components.

The DM-3000 uses a scanned, triangulated CCD camera/laser diode combination to capture the height profile of a package as it passes the unit. A simple tachometer is used to monitor conveyor speed; a laser photoeye is used for package detection. Both the tachometer and laser photoeye are provided by Accu-Sort with the DM-3000. The unit's internal Dual-DSP processor board then calculates the length, width, height, volume and position of the package based on this data.

The DM-3000 can be configured to provide a "confidence rating" to the host computer along with the dimensions and/ or volume of the package. The confidence rating is based on the difficulty that the system had in determining the dimensions of a package, and can be useful for identifying damaged parcels or improperly packaged products. Package orientation information can also be included in the message to the host, allowing for advanced package tracking through the system.

The DM-3000 package information can be used in conjunction with Accu-Sort scanning systems to provide increased flexibility in adjusting focus on the scanners, and to link package dimensions and bar code data.

The DM-3000 can also detect non-singulated (side-by-side) packages as they pass under it, eliminating the sorting and inventory problems caused by "phantom" packages.

Typical Applications Include:
  • Parcel revenue recovery
